City & Guilds, a 150-year-old technical education organization, is being sold to secure its future amid reforms in qualifications and apprenticeships.
The commercial and charitable arms of the organization will split in a "landmark" deal, with the awarding, assessment, and training giant being acquired by PeopleCert, a Greek-owned global certification company, for an undisclosed sum.
The deal is said to unlock "significant investment" for City & Guilds' awarding, assessment and training businesses, avoiding the need for internal restructures.
