Texas Spirit in Michigan
Austin Gergens '21, a graduate student at Hillsdale, has adopted a unique tradition - celebrating "Texas Tuesday" every week.
Although Gergens doesn't have a traditional Texas background, he developed an appreciation for the state's culture while teaching at a charter school in Texas for a year.
"The summers are pretty brutal, but the barbecue is very good, and the people are very good as well,"
Gergens said, highlighting the distinct ethos of Texans that he enjoyed being around.
To bring a bit of Texas to Hillsdale, Gergens wears boots, a jacket, and a bolo tie every Tuesday and encourages others to join in.
