Damacio A. Lopez, a renowned expert and activist, received the Honorary Lifetime Achievement Award at the International Uranium Film Festival (IUFF) in Berlin.
A US Air Force veteran from New Mexico, Lopez has dedicated over thirty years to campaigning for an international ban on depleted uranium munitions and weapons.
“The 82-year-old is probably the world-wide most experienced and most interviewed scholar and activist on uranium weapons.”
His recently published dossier, My Last Battle: Ban Uranium Weapons, is a comprehensive investigation into the military use of depleted uranium, according to IUFF general director Norbert Suchanek.
Lopez received the festival trophy at the “Kino & Bar in der Königstadt” in Berlin.
