Temperature Records Shattered in Multiple Vancouver Island Towns
A significant drop in temperature has led to record-breaking lows in several towns on Vancouver Island, including Port Hardy, Port Alberni, Campbell River, and Qualicum Beach.
According to Environment Canada, Qualicum Beach set a new record of -1 C on October 14, surpassing the previous record of -0.5 C set in 1992. Records in the area have been kept since 1962 and are measured at the Qualicum Beach Airport.
- 22 communities across B.C. set records for cold temperatures, including Bella Bella, Blue River, and Whistler.
- Fort Nelson saw a new warm temperature record of 19.4 C, beating the old mark of 19 C set in 1937.
