A significant drop in temperature has led to record-breaking lows in several towns on Vancouver Island, including Port Hardy, Port Alberni, Campbell River, and Qualicum Beach.
According to Environment Canada, Qualicum Beach set a new record of -1 C on October 14, surpassing the previous record of -0.5 C set in 1992. Records in the area have been kept since 1962 and are measured at the Qualicum Beach Airport.
