Albany Man Pleads Not Guilty to Murder and Burglary Charges

Alfonoso Lester, a 60-year-old man from Albany, N.Y., pleaded not guilty to murder and burglary charges in Albany City Criminal Court on Thursday morning.

Lester is accused of killing his sister, 61-year-old Angela Helms, on Wednesday morning at a home on Hudson Avenue in Albany.

She is somebody that is very passionate about what is going on in Albany County as a whole. Especially with the youth, with the students. You know, so she is she is going to be very, very missed in the community.

According to court documents, Alfonso Lester "knowingly entered and remained unlawfully inside of the above residence belonging to the victim.

Albany County Legislator Beroro Efekoro, who represents district 7 and was also Helm's neighbor, shared his thoughts on the victim.
