Suzanne Somers' Widower, Alan Hamel, Opens Up About His Grief
Alan Hamel, the 89-year-old television host and widower of Suzanne Somers, is sharing his experience with grief after losing his wife to breast cancer in 2023.
The couple was married for 45 years, and Somers had faced multiple bouts of cancer throughout her life. When the disease returned in her 70s, Hamel admitted he wasn't ready to lose her.
Somers told him she wanted him to "live your life, because you have a great life ahead of you, and I don’t want you to walk around all depressed."
Hamel recalled that during their last days together, they had many conversations, and he struggled to cope with the loss, saying "I moped around for a year and a half".
