A New Partnership to Support People with Brain Injuries

Headway Devon, a local charity based in Exeter, specializes in helping individuals rehabilitate from head injuries.

Unfortunately, after brain injury, people are often discharged home to a family network without wider support. As one might experience, "You've spent months in hospital, in ICU, in rehabilitation with a team of clinicians around you and suddenly you're all alone."

Individuals may not understand that they've had a brain injury, and might be at the beginning of a legal fight for compensation with no idea how to proceed. They're still recovering, regaining skills, and learning how to live with their brain injury.

Headway Devon works alongside around 100 people every week, but there are more who go home alone, unaware of the charity's existence.

You may not understand that you've had a brain injury. You might be at the beginning of a legal fight for compensation for your brain injury and have no idea how to go about that.

Thanks to the support of Thompsons Solicitor's, MAPS Benevolent Trust, and the Players of the Postcode Lottery, Headway Devon can now provide support in the hospital.

Author's summary: Headway Devon partners with organizations to support brain injury patients.
