Changes in Jobcentres and National Careers Service
Up to 1,000 staff from National Careers Service subcontractors will transfer to the civil service by next October.
This move is part of the Department for Work and Pensions' (DWP) plan to rebrand Jobcentres into a Jobs and Careers Service, merging with the National Careers Service (NCS).
Currently, the NCS, with a £55 million yearly budget, is managed by the Department for Education through regional prime contractors and sub-contractors.
A DWP spokesperson stated that they will work with contractors to identify which employees will be transferred.
Civil servants told prime contractors they would be "in-sourcing" delivery of careers advice to adults from October 1 next year.
