Oil India Ltd (OIL) will fund the construction of 47 toilet facilities for girl students in Meghalaya's Ri Bhoi district under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
An MoU was signed between OIL representatives and Ri Bhoi Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal to formalize the project, with OIL extending financial assistance of about Rs 72 lakh to schools lacking adequate sanitation facilities for girls.
The initiative stemmed from the visit of Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to Ri Bhoi earlier this year, during which the issue of “inadequate toilet infrastructure in schools” was raised.
The project will be jointly monitored by OIL and the district administration to ensure quality standards, sustainability, and timely completion by December.
