Seven EU member states have increased their imports of Russian energy in 2025, despite the bloc's efforts to reduce reliance on Russian fossil fuels.
According to Reuters, in the first eight months of 2025, the European Union imported over 11 billion euros ($12.7 billion) worth of Russian energy, a significant amount considering a 90% reduction in reliance on Russian supplies since 2022.
