Dudley Council will consider banning the use of a pesticide linked to cancer in parks and open spaces.
A meeting of the authority on October 20 led to councillors voting to accept a notice of motion. This motion calls for the cabinet to consider a report on the potential risks of Glyphosate-based pesticides.
“Concern over the use of pesticides such as Glyphosate is something I have encountered on the doorsteps since entering public life, the motion seeks to address the concerns whilst balancing the need to deliver services in a cost-effective manner.”
Cllr Andrew Tromans proposed the notice of motion, which also suggests consulting with friends groups at several popular parks across the borough and considering a cessation of the chemical's use.
