State Rep. Marcus Wiedower (R-Watkinsville) is resigning from his seat, prompting a special election to replace him.
Wiedower, a four-term legislator representing District 121, cited his growing real estate business, Hillpointe, as the reason for his resignation. He serves as vice president of external affairs at Hillpointe.
“This decision has been incredibly difficult. Serving in the Georgia General Assembly has been one of the greatest honors of my life,”
Wiedower expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by his constituents and colleagues. Although he is stepping away from elected office, he plans to remain involved in the community and address Georgia's pressing challenges, particularly attainable housing, through his work at Hillpointe.
