UCAN Urges Donations to Combat Food Insecurity

Demand for emergency meals has doubled in Douglas County, where low-income residents rely on the emergency food network and SNAP (food stamps) to ward off hunger.

With soaring food prices, the UCAN Douglas County Food Bank has seen a significant increase in demand. However, earlier this year, the federal government reduced some Food Bank's funding, decreasing the amount of food it can purchase.

Additionally, local residents may not receive their food stamp benefits in November, leaving many vulnerable neighbors, including children, seniors, and people with disabilities, without adequate food to meet their needs.

Many of our most vulnerable neighbors - local children, local seniors and local people with disabilities - will be left without adequate food to meet their needs.

UCAN urges donations to combat food insecurity and support those in need.

Donations are crucial to help UCAN provide emergency meals and support the community.
