Air pollution is often associated with extreme cases, such as urban smog in Los Angeles or New Delhi, or belching coal plants in Germany or Bulgaria.
However, everyday pollutants also affect air quality worldwide, and a massive effort is being made to track air pollution and measure its effects on human health.
The State of Global Air report, produced by over 17,000 researchers, relies on data from the Global Burden of Diseases (GBD), which estimates the impact of 88 environmental, behavioral, and dietary risk factors on health across 204 countries and territories since 1990.
The latest report includes critical analysis and startling statistics concerning the effects of air pollution on human health.
