Optical Vendor Ribbon Suffers Cybersecurity Incident
Telcos worldwide are experiencing cyberbreaches, but vendors are also being targeted.
Ribbon Communications, a Plano, Texas-based optical and IP networking system developer, recently fell victim to a cybersecurity incident.
Unauthorized persons, reportedly associated with a nation-state actor, believed to be a reference to China, hacked the vendor.
The hackers had been sitting quietly in Ribbon's IT systems for almost a year, according to the company's 10-Q filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The report of the hack is disclosed under the sub-heading "Cybersecurity Incident Disclosure" on page 57 of the 10-Q filing.
