SNAICC – National Voice for our Children has released a new resource to support early childhood educators in responding to disclosures of abuse or harm.
This resource is part of SNAICC’s work to support culturally safe and child-centred practices, protecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and promoting their wellbeing.
Responding to a disclosure of abuse is a critical responsibility, particularly in early childhood education and care settings where trust-based relationships are formed.
Children may disclose directly, indirectly, or through behaviour, and how adults respond can impact the child’s sense of safety and likelihood of ongoing disclosure or help-seeking.
Responding effectively to a disclosure of abuse is a critical responsibility for anyone working with children.
