Joseph Sarkissian marked a significant milestone as he celebrated his 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends.
"A hundred is just a number,"
says Joseph Sarkissian, a veteran whose life has been defined by service, faith, and love of family. Born in 1925, Sarkissian came of age during the Great Depression and was drafted into World War II at 18, serving proudly in the U.S.
He shared his experiences, saying
"I sailed three quarters of the world — from England to South America". After the war, the GI Bill helped Sarkissian earn several degrees, including a master's from Columbia University, where he met his late wife at a church dance.
