The Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration is set to open in Clerkenwell, central London, in May 2026.
Located in the grounds of an 18th-century abandoned waterworks, the centre will feature regularly changing exhibitions on illustration across three galleries, including works loaned from Sir Quentin Blake's own archive.
"I have long dreamt of a permanent place with Illustration above the door, and now the amazing reality is that we have it. I am proud to think the centre has my name on it, illustration is a wonderful universal and varied language."
The idea for the centre came from Sir Quentin Blake, best known for illustrating Roald Dahl's books, who established a charity for illustration in 2002.
Sir Quentin's previous endeavour, the House of Illustration, closed in 2020 after six years of operation.
