A recent study by WalletHub found that the Northeast region is the safest part of the country.
Colorado ranked lower than California overall, while California itself ranked No. 38 in overall safety and 47th in personal and residential safety.
- California ranked low in financial and road safety.
- However, it scored better in workplace safety and emergency preparedness.
Other Southwest states, except for Utah (ranked No. 5), did not score high on the list.
