High Wind Warning Issued for Our Area

A Wind Advisory has been issued for our area by NOAA, effective tonight and into Wednesday, with gusty southerly winds expected at 35-55 mph and isolated gusts of 65 mph.

Residents are advised to prepare for potential power outages, with tree limbs possibly being blown down, and have flashlights and extra batteries on hand.

About Advisories and Warnings

A High Wind Warning is issued when winds are expected to reach 40 mph or more, with gusts of 58 mph or more, helping communities prepare for possible property damage, disruptions to outdoor activities, and transportation issues.

Fast winds can make things much more dangerous in places where there’s a bigger chance of wildfires.

In such cases, the National Weather Service issues a Red Flag Warning when it’s very windy and dry.
