Democrats have made significant gains in both the Suffolk and Nassau County Legislatures, unseating a Republican incumbent in Suffolk and claiming an open seat in Nassau.
In Suffolk's 1st District, Democrat Greg Doroski defeated Republican Legis. Stark, securing the North Fork seat. Meanwhile, in Nassau, Democrats picked up an open seat.
“In Suffolk County, when we get knocked down, we get right back up and we’re ready to fight,” said Suffolk Democratic chairman Richard Schaffer.
