Blakeman is running again for Nassau County executive, but in 2009, he sought the Republican nomination for New York City mayor.
Back in 2009, Blakeman ran an ad stating:
"I’m one of you" to residents of the five boroughs. "Bruce Blakeman is running for mayor! Bruce Blakeman grew up on the border of Queens and lives in Manhattan!”
However, fact-checking reveals that Valley Stream, where Blakeman is from, is located in one of the most western parts of Nassau County, on the border of New York City.
