Michael Jackson's nephew, Jaafar Jackson, closely resembles his late famous uncle in the first official trailer for the biopic about the King of Pop's life. At 29 years old, Jaafar takes on the role of Michael Jackson, the legendary "Thriller" singer who passed away at 50 in 2009 and remains celebrated worldwide for hits like Billie Jean and Beat It.
The film, titled Michael and directed by Antoine Fuqua, faced three delays but is now scheduled for release on April 24 of next year.
The teaser opens with Jaafar portraying a young Michael Jackson in a studio. An accompanying voiceover states:
"I know you have been waiting a long time for this. Let's take it from the top."
As the voiceover plays, Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' begins in the background.
The trailer then shifts to a sold-out stadium full of fans eagerly awaiting the singer’s concert. It features Jaafar wearing a look reminiscent of Michael Jackson’s iconic stage costumes, though his face remains hidden throughout the clip.
Jaafar Jackson’s strong resemblance and performance promise a compelling portrayal of the Pop King’s legacy in this highly anticipated film.
