On Thursday, November 6, at Carrara Oval in Queensland, Varun Chakaravarthy took the important wicket of Glenn Maxwell during the fourth T20I match between India and Australia. The leg-spinner dismissed Maxwell for just 2 runs, leaving Australia struggling at 103/6.
The breakthrough happened in the 15th over when Varun bowled a sharp googly that completely fooled Maxwell. The batter tried to make room and play on the off side but missed the ball, which clipped the top of the off-stump before landing in the wicketkeeper’s gloves.
Varun Chakaravarthy ended his spell with figures of 1/26 from four overs.
Varun is now the leading T20I bowler in the series with five wickets and has taken 26 wickets in 15 T20I matches this year. India maintained control through a disciplined bowling display, with Axar Patel, Shivam Dube, and Washington Sundar each taking two wickets.
At the time of reporting, Australia was at 116/8 after 17 overs, with Ben Dwarshuis and Nathan Ellis batting. Earlier, India set a target by scoring 167/8 in their 20 overs after electing to bat first.
Varun Chakaravarthy's bowling finesse was instrumental in putting Australia under pressure during this tense chase.
