Parades and Services Planned for Remembrance Day

Local communities across Hamilton, Burlington, and Brantford are preparing events to honor Remembrance Day and reflect on the sacrifices of those who have served.

Schedule of Ceremonies

An event marking Indigenous Veterans Day will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 7, at the Battlefield House Museum and Park, 77 King St. E.

“This service acknowledges and commemorates the contributions made by Indigenous veterans in service to Turtle Island,” stated the City of Hamilton in a news release.

The gathering at the Eagles Among Us Indigenous Monument will include light refreshments and snacks inspired by Indigenous traditions. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs due to limited seating.

Hamilton Garrison Parade

Hamilton’s garrison parade will begin at 10:15 a.m. on November 9, followed by a service at 10:45 a.m. The procession, featuring veterans, garrison units, and cadet corps, will start at the John Foote V.C. Armoury and continue south to Gore Park on King Street East. The main ceremony will be held at Veteran’s Place in Gore Park.

Closures on November 11

As part of the observance, most federal offices and federally regulated businesses, including banks and postal services, will be closed on November 11.
