Bo Bichette enters free agency for the first time this offseason, and at 27 years old, he’s positioned to attract strong interest after an impressive 2025 campaign.
During the 2025 season, Bichette posted a .311 batting average, a .357 on-base percentage, and a .483 slugging mark. He recorded 18 home runs, 94 RBIs, and only 91 strikeouts. Even after missing the final month, he ranked second in the American League with 181 hits and holds a career average of .294.
Although limited by a knee injury, Bichette played all seven World Series games, posting a .348/.444/.478 slash line and delivering a crucial home run in Game 7.
Defensively, Bichette struggled at shortstop in 2025, finishing with -13 outs above average and -11 defensive runs saved, the lowest figures among MLB shortstops.
Any team signing him will be doing so for his bat and hoping he can transition to second or third base.
Four teams are expected to be contenders for Bichette’s services this offseason. Given the 2025 narrative, many viewed this year as his final run with the Blue Jays. Still, there remains a small possibility the two-time All-Star could return to Toronto after the World Series finale.
Bichette’s strong offensive profile and postseason perseverance elevate his free-agent value, though defensive concerns suggest a transition away from shortstop.
