The Sacramento Kings have officially signed forward/center Precious Achiuwa and waived Isaac Jones to clear a roster spot.
According to a team press release, the Kings signed Achiuwa to a one-year, minimum-salary contract. NBA insider Shams Charania reported the agreement and noted that the Kings waived second-year forward Isaac Jones to make room for him.
The Kings have been short on frontcourt players after losing starting power forward Keegan Murray to a thumb injury last month. This setback forced the team to rely on smaller lineups and increased minutes for rookies Nique Clifford and Dylan Cardwell early in the season.
At 26 years old, Achiuwa began his NBA career with the Miami Heat after being drafted. He was traded to the Toronto Raptors during the 2021 offseason as part of the Kyle Lowry sign-and-trade deal. After more than two seasons with Toronto, he was traded to the New York Knicks along with OG Anunoby in December 2023.
Achiuwa spent a season and a half with the Knicks before signing a non-guaranteed contract with the Heat this fall. However, he did not make Miami’s regular season roster due to luxury tax concerns.

Earlier reports from NBA insider Jake Fischer indicated the Kings were targeting Achiuwa, with Brett Siegel of Clutch Points suggesting Jones would likely be the roster casualty.
