Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day
In honour of their service and sacrifice, TransLink will offer free transit to veterans and active military personnel on Tuesday, November 11, Remembrance Day.
Who Is Eligible for Free Transit?
Those eligible include:
- Veterans
- Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces
- Police and fire personnel
- Canadian Coast Guard members
- Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- BC Ambulance Service personnel
Eligible individuals can access free transit by showing their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or by presenting themselves in uniform.
Transit Access Details
- Veterans and eligible riders do not need to tap their Compass Card for bus and HandyDART trips.
- Accessible fare gates at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will remain open from 8 a.m.
- Holiday fares will apply to other customers on November 11.
Additional Honours
TransLink also acknowledges National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, to honour the sacrifices of Indigenous veterans and their contributions to global peace and security.
The Royal Canadian Legion will be distributing poppies by donation at various transit hubs in Metro Vancouver.
Customers are encouraged to use transit to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies across the region.
