School and Bus Cancellations in Cape Breton on Wednesday
Strong winds and power outages have disrupted classes for several Cape Breton students. The Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) announced numerous bus cancellations and early dismissals due to safety concerns.
School Disruptions
- Several SRCE-operated bus routes were cancelled Wednesday morning because of high winds.
- St. Mary’s Education Centre/Academy dismissed students early after a power outage. Dismissal began at 9:45 a.m.
- Beau-Port School, run by the CSAP, closed entirely on Wednesday due to an area-wide power outage.
NDA School and NSCC Strait Area Campus
At NDA School, morning bus service was suspended because of wind conditions.
The school remains open, but students who rely on bus transportation must either stay home or arrange alternative travel.
School officials noted they would update families later in the day about afternoon transportation plans.
NSCC Strait Area Campus cancelled all classes after an overnight outage, with power restoration expected around 2:00 p.m.
Other Updates
The Wagmatcook Learning Centre remains open and continues normal operations despite regional weather issues.
