Young Indian opener Abhishek Sharma and spinner Varun Chakravarthy continue to dominate the latest ICC Men’s T20 Players’ Rankings released on Wednesday. Abhishek leads the batters list with 925 rating points, ahead of England’s Phil Salt and Tilak Verma.
“Abhishek Sharma was the leading run-scorer for India during the Asia Cup earlier this year.”
T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav remains the only other Indian in the top ten of the batting list, holding the eighth position.
Chakravarthy holds the top rank among bowlers, followed by West Indies’ Akeal Hosain and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan. Australian seamer Josh Hazlewood moved up two spots to tenth after strong performances at home against India.
Varun Chakravarthy is currently the only Indian among the top ten T20I bowlers.
Hardik Pandya continues to represent India in the all-rounders’ category, ranking fourth. The list is led by Pakistan’s Saim Ayub, with Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza and West Indies’ Roston Chase in second and third, respectively.
Encouraging results for Pakistan come just months before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, as several of its players have shown notable improvement in the rankings.
