With approximately 76% of countywide votes counted, the Nassau County Legislature is expected to stay under Republican control, with a likely division of 11 Republicans and 8 Democrats.
At present, Republicans hold an 11-7 advantage, with one seat vacant since former District 15 legislator John Ferretti resigned to become Hempstead town supervisor.
Before Ferretti’s departure, the Legislature had a 12-7 Republican majority. Following Tuesday night’s election, Democrats succeeded in flipping one district — District 14 — marking a modest gain for the party.
“The Nassau County Legislature is composed of 19 legislators representing the county’s 19 districts.”
Republicans are set to maintain control of the Nassau County Legislature despite Democrats winning one new seat in the 2025 election.
