Stranger Things Season 5: First Five Minutes Reveal Vecna’s Connection to Will Byers
Netflix’s TUDUM event offered an exclusive first look at the opening of Stranger Things Season 5. The premiere footage was unveiled live from the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood during a special livestream on November 6, 2025. After a two-hour anticipation, fans were finally treated to the first five minutes of the final season.
The sequence opens with Will Byers, right after his abduction by the Demogorgon in 1983. The atmosphere quickly turns grim, signaling that this season will be darker and more intense than any before.

Inside the Scene
Will, only twelve, is seen lying unconscious in the eerie Upside Down forest, softly humming a familiar tune in his sleep. Moments later, he wakes in fear as the growl of the Demogorgon draws near. In panic, he fires a gun at the creature, but the shots have no effect. Will flees, climbs a tree, and desperately tries to escape.
As he leaps to another branch, he falls hard to the ground and loses consciousness. The creature drags him deeper into the Upside Down, where a terrifying new presence awaits—Vecna himself. His tentacles seize Will, pinning him against a wall with suffocating force.
