Mark Carney’s Liberal Government to Table First Budget
The minority Liberal government, led by Mark Carney, will table its first budget today, with Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne hinting that there will be no major surprises in the document.
Champagne has not secured the support of opposition parties for the budget, which is expected to be tabled around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
Pre-Budget Tradition
Yesterday, Champagne participated in the pre-budget tradition of buying new shoes, making his purchase from Boulet Boots in Saint-Tite, Que., a family-owned business.
The company, which used to primarily cater to military members, has since expanded to specialize in cowboy boots and remains family-owned.
There should be no “surprises” for opposition parties.
